Facing Facts

Facing FactsI've noticed over the last week or so many traders on this board being absolutely dismissive regarding the German closure of nuclear power plants, claiming it was just political maneuvering.  Well --see where it gets you -the Green Party actually won an election on this platform.  This is a bit of a bellwether, and reflects a broad sentiment across all countries planning to grow their nuclear industry.  Yes --even in China, which has an increasingly informed middle class, a middle class that bought out every dose of potassium iodide in the country last week.  So you can be long uranium, but it WILL be a long time before you see this sector become a darling again.  Till then, every radiation case in Japan, every spill or seepage into surrounding ground or seawater, every miniscule detection of radioactive isotope 7000 miles away in Boston --these will all generate negative impact and affect stock performance.  Having said all this, I plan to get out of UUU for the time being and look at companies that may have more of a chance in Japan's (near) future: LNG, wood, concrete.  GLTA.
