RE: RE: RE: Modern plants are much safer than JapaQualified, competent staff..........that is the best safety measure.

The future is in nuclear training!  hey...thats what I do.  I smell contracts for trainers in japan soon.

The head of the nuclear oversite team said in a meeting once. (I was schedualed into the big wig meeting to be questioned  reguarding the health of our training program.)  He said in reply to my ... "my company thinks training is too expensive".blah..blah.blah..blkah..

"you think training is expensive?.........NOT training is expensive!"  so true.

I've witnessed some incompetence at the helm of a reactor before (at my work).....luckily our design was on our side...or it could have ended badly.  That and many other incidents can be read on the inpo site.  Lots of plants have been lucky with some near misses...averted only by great design...and not doing the wrong thing...doing nothing can be better than doing the wrong thing.  Of course doing the right thing makes the near misses a non event.

I joke all the time about my job with comments like  " I get paid to make decisions".

That what nuclear operators do, everywhere, and at all levels.
