Mr. Barrett Sleeman reports
THEMAC RESOURCES GROUP LIMITED: WORLD-CLASS MINING EXECUTIVE RETURNS TO STATE
W. Ferol Baker has accepted the position of general manager for the Copper Flat project in Sierra county, N.M., for Themac Resources Group Ltd.'s New Mexico Copper Corp. (NMCC).
Beginning his mining career with Phelps Dodge in the Silver City area in the late 1970s, Mr. Baker most recently served as mine manager of the SCM Franke mine in Chile. "I'm excited to be returning to New Mexico. I've continued to keep a home in Silver City, and I'm looking forward to assisting in bringing Copper Flat into operation production," said Mr. Baker.
Mr. Baker, who will join New Mexico Copper officially on June 1, 2011, brings over 30 years experience in the mining industry, beginning his career as a labourer in the copper mines in the Silver City district. He gained extensive experience managing and constructing mine sites on three continents (North America, South America and Africa), successfully turning around projects that were in danger of not performing.
"New Mexico Copper Corp. is pleased to have a manager of Ferol's experience to lead the Copper Flat project," said Kevin Maloney, chairman of Themac Resources. "His knowledge in the industry, the area and the work force make him a perfect match to ensure that the project has the proper leadership to achieve success."
The Copper Flat deposit is located in Las Animas mining district of south-central New Mexico, about 20 miles southwest of Truth or Consequences. NMCC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Themac Resources Group, a Canadian company listed on the TSX Venture Exchange, completed a transaction for an option on the mine site in early March, 2011.
Mr. Baker is a bilingual English/Spanish speaker, a New Mexico native with roots in Silver City and holds a bachelor of science degree in mining engineering from the University of Arizona in Tucson.
