Summary:
The goals of the PV Manufacturing Initiative are tosupport the creation of a robust U.S. PV manufacturing base and supplychain, develop a highly trained workforce with the required technicalskills, and speed the implementation of new cutting-edge technologies.The initiative intends to accelerate the coordination of stakeholdersand fund technology development across the U.S. PV industry. Applicantscan apply under two separate topics:
- University-Focused: to conduct industry-relevant research and development (R&D) projects related to PV manufacturing, performed at universities and guided by industry
- Industry-Focused: to accelerate the development and implementation of PV manufacturing-related technologies through collaborative research and by developing manufacturing facilities.
The awardees will be expected to develop R&D programs based onidentified manufacturing needs and opportunities; to determine, manage,and monitor relevant R&D projects; and/or to provide services andfacilities to PV companies and suppliers to assist them in demonstratingnew technologies or making the transition to commercial production.There are two stages for this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA),and this is the second stage.
In the first stage, applicants were required to submit a concept paper by June 7, 2010, to be eligible for the subsequent full application stage.
