You raise a good question about having a separately port devoted to Magellan shipments.

What about just building a new port somewhere near Esperance just for this purpose?  There's lots of empty space out there, and surely someone could figure out a way to do this.  Even if it cost $50M we'd easily make that back with reduced transportation costs, reduced testing/compliance costs, and no more stoppages.

If that is cost prohibitve, why not load containers to a smaller vessel then transfer to larger vessels offshore?

Somebody smarter than me must have already thought of this?
