No New Nuclear Plants - China Power New Energy Dev

No New Nuclear Plants - China Power New Energy DevApril 6 – China Power New Energy Development (0735.HK) has no plans to build new nuclear power plants this year following Japan’s nuclear crisis last month, reports asstocks.com, citing Chairman Li Xiolin. The company currently has 13 nuclear power plants operations.

According to Li, the acquisition of stake by China Yangtze Power (600900) was of investment purpose and it was expected to have change in board structure. That did not ultimately pan out, however. China Yangtze Power will not inject large-scale hydroelectric power project into the company.

The company will still focus on new energy development, which could become a new source of income for the company, said CEO Liu Genyu. Liu added that the company’s totaled installed capacity will reach two million kilowatts in 2011 and six million kilowatts by 2015.

As of October 31 2010, installed capacity was 1.67 million kilowatts.
