It ain't just about CSeries...Those who read my posts know I've been a long and ardent advocate/supporter of CSeries, and its importance to Bombardier's future.
But a recent piece in the National post that suggests it's about three things: 1)CSeries 2)CSeries and 3)Ceries seems to take things a little too far.
Yes, CSeries is an important piece of the puzzle in Bombardier's future, but even without CSeries Bombardier has some interesting opportunities ahead.
Bombardier's debt load is declining. The balance sheet is firming up. The rail equipment business is humming along nicely with profit margins rising. The business jet market is turning around and taking off. Bombardier has made significant progress cutting costs and improving productivity.
Yes, CSeries is an important part of that success, but CSeries isn't everything, and the company's future doesn't ride on it. CSeries is important because of what it represents, and that's Bombardier's move into the world of larger commercial jet manufacturing.
And whether CSeries is wildly successful, or merely fizzles and winds up breaking even, it will serve as a stepping stone into Bombardier's future building larger commercial jet aircraft.
Wish they'd cut the corny idioms in the advertising though:
"
Time Flies - Be Ready..." do words like that ever inspire anyone to buy?
