Newcastle Identifies Drill Targets on Chester Property
VICTORIA, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - April 14, 2011) - Newcastle Minerals Ltd. (TSX VENTURE:NCM) is pleased to announce that it has selected drill targets and is currently planning a 1,500-metre diamond drill campaign at its 100% owned Chester Project located in northwestern Ontario, Canada.
The two-unit, 30-hectare claim lies approximately one kilometre north of Trelawney Mining and Exploration Inc.'s Cote Lake deposit and is surrounded by Augen Gold Corp. and Sanatana Diamonds Inc.'s Watershed Project. Trelawney continues its successful exploration in the Cote Lake area, recently announcing large intersections of low-grade gold, including 1.18 grams per tonne gold over 285.80 metres, 1.26 grams per tonne gold over 275 metres and 1.65 grams per tonne gold over 304 metres. Recent deep drilling by Augen Gold has returned anomalous gold over short intervals.
A recently completed ground induced polarization survey combined with a ground magnetic and electromagnetic survey last spring by Newcastle assisted in identifying potential extensions of mineralized structures trending from Trelawney's ground onto Newcastle's Chester Project. Newcastle's drilling will focus on these potential extensions, as well as test additional magnetic, electromagnetic and I.P. anomalies identified in the two surveys.
Ontario Geological Survey mapping from 1980 recorded both felsic-intermediate metavolcanics with quartz veins/pods and "migmatitic" (or intermediate-felsic intrusive) rocks listed as massive hornblende diorite also with quartz veins. The possible extension of the mineralized zone from Trelawney's property appears to align itself with a coincidental Mag-VLF anomaly on Newcastle's Chester property, which appears prospective.
Under management's direction, Mr. Garry Clark of Clark Exploration Consulting Inc. has begun logistical planning for the spring 2011 drill campaign and is currently negotiating to secure a diamond drill.
Newcastle's President, Michael Romanik, said "Newcastle is very encouraged by the results of the I.P. survey. Combined with the previous geophysical surveys, Newcastle is planning a drill campaign to assess the potential of extensions to mineralization found on Trelawney's Cote Lake Property."
The technical information herein was prepared under the supervision of Mr. Garry Clark, P. Geo., of Clark Exploration Consulting Inc., who acts as Newcastle's Qualified Person as defined by National Instrument 43-101.
