* Q3 sales up 74 pct to 97,001 tons

* Q3 production rises 33 pct to 88,315 tons of lithium concentrate (Follows alerts)

(Reuters) - Talison Lithium's quarterly sales rose 74 percent, helped by increased capacity at its Australia mine and higher demand.

The Perth-based miner, which is the biggest producer of lithium in the world by sales, said it sold 97,001 tons of lithium concentrate in the January-March quarter on increased demand for lithium concentrate, compared with 55,864 tons last year.

Talison said production was also helped by the completion of stage 1 expansion of at the company's Greenbushes Lithium Operations in December.

Western Australia-focussed Talison said production rose 33 percent to 88,315 tons of lithium concentrate, the equivalent of about 13,100 tonnes of lithium carbonate.

Lithium carbonate is used in ceramics, batteries and the pharmaceutical industry.

The company also explores lithium at the Salares 7 lithium project in Chile.

Shares of the company were trading up about 1 percent at C$4.98 on Tuesday morning on the Toronto Stock Exchange. (Reporting by Amruta Sabnis in Bangalore; Editing by Roshni Menon)
