Israeli-American Gene Simmons, whose mother calls him Chaim Witz, recently joined Ortsbo as spokesperson and business partner. Simmons speaks five languages.
With its shares climbing from pennies to a recent high of $2.25, Intertainment Media (TSXV:INT) has been the runaway success of the Toronto Venture Exchange this year.
Intertainment has been rising on the promise of Ortsbo, software that translates, in real time, more than fifty different languages across a dozen social media platforms. After February's sit down interview with Cantech Letter Editor Nick Waddell, we caught up with David Lucatch to talk about Gene Simmons, Ortsbo and the amazing run the stock has been on.
David it has been a remarkable run for Intertainment shareholders. Intertainment is the top trader on the entire exchange by a wide margin. How is the word getting out?
Nick, as a social media company, we have build a loyal following of users and investors who are spreading the value proposition of not only our divisions, but of the Company itself. We feel that these activities in conjunction with the Company's releases, media attention and social media performance is getting the Intertainment word out to the investment community.
Gene Simmons recently joined Intertainment as spokesman. What does Gene bring to the table and what plans do you have for him?
Actually, Gene did not join Intertainment, but rather Ortsbo Inc. as a spokesperson and business partner. Gene is one of the most recognized personalities globally and with his business acumen and entrepreneurial experience combined with the fact that Gene speaks five languages and is learning a sixth, made him and ideal business partner and spokesperson. Together with Richard Abramson, Gene and I are looking at innovative and exciting opportunities to make Ortsbo.com a household name for those who are looking to communicate with people around the world in almost any language. One specific event I can point to is the upcoming Gene Simmons Live & Global on May 20th. This event is proposed to be the world's largest multi-language conversation, allowing people from all over the world to communicate with Gene. As a sponsor, Live Nation views this opportunity as a prototype for potential online events with their Artists.
Last time we talked you alluded to spinning out Ortsbo as its own entity. What are your thoughts on this now?
We announced our decision to turn down the Ortsbo offers. I believe that this was the right decision. We will continue to support Ortsbo's growth and we will continue to evaluate any new offers, should they come to our attention, as any fiscally responsible enterprise would.
Ortsbo is getting all the attention for Intertainment right now, but the company is actually several divisions. Are you concentrating solely on Ortsbo now, or is Ortsbo part of an overall strategy involving the other divisions?

Language is a key focus of every part of the Internet including Social Media as the cultural landscape continues to change online. At one time English was the predominant language of the Internet, but today, only one out of every four Internet user's first language is English. We think this trend will continue with the Internet's surge into Asia and other developing areas around the globe. Ortsbo, not only as a stand alone division, but as part of the Intertainment family of Companies, is helping shape our overall product offerings.
