Toronto & New York (The Canadian Press) -The Toronto stock market tumbled more than 200 points Wednesday amid aselloff in resource stocks as oil prices retreated on signs of lowerU.S. energy demand and metal prices fell on worries about a slowing Chinese.
The S&P/TSX composite index fell 222.32 points to13,419.74, while the TSX Venture Exchange was off 55.81 points to2,070.27.
The sharp downturn in commodity prices also pushed New York markets lower following three days of gains.
The Dow Jones industrials lost 130.33 points to 12,630.03, theNasdaq composite dropped 26.83 points to 2,845.06 while the S&P500 was down 15.08 points to 1,342.08.
