Maracas DrillingPGM's are part of the potential of Maracas. Here's a letter I received from Darcie of
Largo's Business Development:
Yes, The Maracas deposit has a fairly significant concentration of PGMs
(presently we have defined 208,000 ounces) with a high platinum to palladium
ratio of 4:1.
As we are focused on bringing Maracas into production for Vanadium, at this
point we have not determined if we can extract and process these profitably
but it is something that we intend to look into further. As you might be
aware we recently announced an 11,000 meter drill program on the property
which will by default also test for PGMs as well.
If we decide to move forward with developing a PGM byproduct in future, we
will certainly make a public announcement at that time - for the time being,
Maracas remains a primary Vanadium deposit.
Actually, Ferro Vanadium is a further processed form of vanadium pentoxide,
so we are simply processing the vanadium pentoxide in a specific way to
create it. Ferro vanadium is used as an alloy in the steel industry and it
is my understanding that this is where the interest of Glencore in our
material lies.
Hope that clarifies things, Let me know if you require anything further.
