RE: RE: Look out for manipulation techniquesbluedart, basically, I second. But let me bring you some real situations that happen often (not necessarily applicable to OPEL but...).
In the case of a small publicly traded company majority owned by small shareholders. The share price becomes a very important psychological point for the buyer. If there are few potential buyers, they could be tempted to keep downward pressure on the share price since the small shareholders (voters) tend to judge the enterprise value based on the current price. This is unlikely to occur if there are multiple buyers.
When a small publicly traded company does not have much money, and develops a product or a concept of great value that need financing, the creditors want to get shares at the lowest price possible to obtain a greater percentage of the float to the expense of small shareholders.
Of course there are short-term movements (noise) and long-term investor should not consider it, but my experience as a trader and investor allowed me to observe all these phenomena ... or mixture of .
BTW, 600k short position represents a small speculative position in my opinion. But 6 Millions warrants and options exercised by the underwriters since March 2 have helped increase cash but have downward pressure on share price too.
