RE: RE: RE: RE: RE: RE: GRUPARIt's important not to dismiss the influence of these boards. Many investors flock to these boards because that's where many of the smart investors gain insight on a stock. Even if the post was poor in quality there may be a point which makes the reader reconsider something that was previously not considered, Just add up the number of reads in one day and multiply that by the number of outside contacts and investor connections. A board such as this one has many talented posters which have made an important inpact on many other investors.
You could also rate a stock on a board such as this one just by the number of bashers on board. Some of these may be simply misguided but I would be willing to bet that some have come from competing (and also burgeoning) companies, in an effort to discredit and disuade interest- especially if they don't back up their claims (which since I have been reading these boards is close to 100%) A promising company with upside potential will definitely send out warning signals to its competitors and one of the strongest and most powerful of all the media available.
Also the post may have simply reaffirmed what you felt about the stock in the first place.
This is definitely the case for my position. Even in cases where I have researched a stock and felt 80% about it, a deciding factor may be how much interest there is in it on discussion boards. I shy away from a stock if I go to the board and don't see a post in a month. Although GRUPAR won't admit it, he has already gleaned information through this board to reaffirm his position. It's impossible for anyone to go through these posts and not be influenced - that is if the reader is an inteligent and savy investor- it may even be a subconscious influence- but it's made an inpact.
And with all due respect getting on to a stock at a few cents in its infancy is still a leap of faith (albeit a well reasearched one) since , although the stock may have huge upside potential, at that stage, that's all it is- potential- nothing proven yet.
Does this board hold influence in what happens to this stock? How much money is tied up in the hands of the investors on just this one board?
