Lestat, the obsession towards shorters is a function of psychology. When events are occurring that are in conflict with a person's beliefs, they generally project that conflict to an identifiable target as a defense mechanism. Google "cognitive dissonance" for a more thorough explanation.

Investors are anything but rational. This play is a textbook example.
