he clearly took the job to be safe, but kept looking and found something with better pay/benefits/vacation/location etcetcetc. and so he took off- people these days look out for themselves first and their employer second.
however, this is not "one less salary to pay" because he will have to be replaced, and quickly, as AL can't do both jobs for long.
hopefully they bring in someone with a lot of relevant experience and a strong network in the financial community.
