In fact JJ can pick up bottles by the road, wash dishes, or clean out garbage bins for all I care. Any money brought in to finace the operation is JJ's repsonsibility but it is not allowed to touch the ownership of the JV. It states it implicitly. Learn to read and maybe then you can wrap your head around this fact.
Your second point about the bad business decision. Well, at the time the deal was done, the world was falling apart and resource projects were being given away, essentially they were free because the world thought that the end was near. Plus JJ needed GBK to buy the asset because of their previous arrangement that stated that they have to share any assets near by.
