RE: calming newsI doubt very much we will ever see a NR come out saying they are looking at offers. That is why, when there is a rumour or a leak, all companies usually say 'we do not comment on rumours etc.....' even though a few days later it is often confirmed.
If it comes out in a NR it will be because there is an actual serious offer on the table and presented in the NR. But we will have an indication of a deal well before, by the share price moving up (as it was earlier in the year where many believed this was it.). Look at a few other companies who's projects got bought out. A month or two before the deal, price started moving up to about 30-40% of the final offer.
