If you bought in thinking you were buying a profitable miner, your dd was somewhat deficient.  If you wait until it is profitable, (i.e. has turned around), you'll likely pay a lot more.  Of course, at that point there will be less risk.  To each his own.

As a turnaround play, it isn't the last 5 and a half years that matter, it's the next couple.  As a turnaround play, your dd should focus on the reasons they started to lose money, what has been done about it, and what are the chances that the particular management team in place can successfully return the company to profitability in the near term.

There may not be any beef in last year's financials, but there may well be some in next year's.
