RE: RE: RE: RE: RE: Where's the beef?

RE: RE: RE: RE: RE: Where's the beef? There are issues here, just like with every other company.  Understanding those issues and figuring out what they mean in terms of the value of the shares, that's what dd is supposed to be about.  Too many shares, not enough pr, surface rights, political risks, relationships with the locals and more, are all things that have to be considered in deciding whether this is a bargain at the current share price.

Simplifying the entire sector by dividing them into "profitable companies and science projects" sounds clever and certainly makes things easier in that it removes from consideration a large number of companies based on a very simple criterion.

I have no idea who this analyst is, but I suspect he (or she) is comfortable with balance sheets and income statements, and therefore wants to limit the universe to companies that can be evaluated based on accounting principles.  Figuring out the value of assets, the skill of a management team, the viability of a plan, whether the company is on track, etc. likely is outside his comfort zone, so he eliminates all of that off the top by calling companies that require that sort of analysis "science projects"

That might work for him, but it likely misses some large opportunities, because the market in general is also comfortable with balance sheets and income statements, so very few real bargains exist among the companies he limits himself to.
