Pollution??
Pollution??So it would appear some people are so worried about pollution from the Raven project if it is indeed to become an active coal mine. First let's remember that Raven project is designed as an underground mining operation. Underground mining lowers the mining footprint to levels that are well below anything anyone has even begun to describe. If the pollution were to be that rampant from an underground mining operation extracting coal, then how do we explain that a huge area of West Virginia, Kentucky, and Pennsylvania seem to have wonderfully green forest growing throughout the entire surrounding area? These areas have been performing underground coal mining for an extremely long time. Obviously there were changes made to the protocol for operations in these areas as time has progressed, with the result being that pollution is not even a decent arguement at this stage of the game. As for the visual pollution, Raven project is vitually unseen from the highway and for the planes that happen to be passing overhead could you please do something to cutback on the carbon footprint your planes engine(s) are producing. Planes are known to produce huge carbon footprints yet I see none of these posters worrying about trying to stop any of the multitude of plane manufacturers from building planes. Since this is only common sense that planes have become a necessity of todays world, it should also be considered that this type of coal mine stands to produce more in local enconmic benefits, than the slight pollution footprint that is being cited by some posters.
The company has a couple of concerns that they are addressing currently, and this too should help display the companies never-ending search to make this a project that completely encompasses their goal of as close to a zero footprint as possible.
If we truly are to expect zero footprint, then obviously we need to outlaw cars, planes, boats, spacecrafts, electricity, etc. Ok, I'm sure anyone who has what it takes to address such issues realistically can hopefully understand just how there is an inherent need to consider all data in context and not just pull what they feel serves their interest.
