What you suggest is quite possible and seems to be the only way the company can still meet guidance. They had also stated somewhere that they would feed ore from other mines, if I remember correctly. This requires full sized stocks of ore lying around at the surface.
Also, lowballing of guidance would not be something "nefarious." Rather, it would be a commendable sign of prudence. This gives companies some wriggle room and is why good companies consistently beat guidance.
