RE: MCP Group aquisitionFairly new to this stock. I don't think VNP is being given enough notice or credit for their MCP Group acquisition --partly because there seems to be a dearth of information regarding MCP. Please help if you can provide info or update the stuff here:
In 2010 MCP Group generated revenues of 345 million Euro.
MCP is the leader in the market for Bismuth and its bi-products, with over 60% of the world market. As a minor metal, Bismuth has increased in price 23% since VNP acquired MCP (from Metal Pages)
MCP operates 8 production sites around the globe. Among MCP operations is the Jin Shu facility in Shenzen. MCP purchases bismuth ingots and sometimes bismuth oxide from Chinese mining companies and other bismuth sources in China. The Chinese bismuth industry is expected to grow 30% by end of 2012/2013 with more demand for bismuth oxide (from recent Asia Metals interview)
Other products of interest include indium, gallium, selenium, tellurium, and germanium. MCP supplies metal-based chemicals such as gallium oxide, used in the semiconductor industry; indium nitrate used in batteries, plating and medical applications; selenium dioxide, used in the glass industry; and tellurium oxide, recovered from solar panels.
I believe next earnings report in August will demonstrate how valuable an acquisition MCP group has been to VNP.
