PIMCO New York Municipal Income Fund III (the Fund) is a non-diversified closed-end management investment company. The Fund's primary investment objective is to seek to provide current income exempt from federal and California income tax. Under normal circumstances, the Fund invests at least 90% of its net assets in municipal bonds which pay interest that is exempt from regular federal, New York State and New York City income. The Fund may invest up to 20% of its total assets in investments the interest from which is subject to the federal alternative minimum tax. The Fund also invests at least 80% of its net assets in municipal bonds that at the time of investment are investment grade quality. Pacific Investment Management Company LLC (PIMCO) serves as the Fund's investment manager.

Poynt Corp. recently underwent an extensive process to find asuitable partner to help it protect and monetize the increasing value ofits patent portfolio. At the beginning of June, the company announced apartnership agreement with Gladios IP, a subsidiary of Wi-LAN Inc. forthis purpose. Over the last several years, Wi-LAN has licensedintellectual property worth hundreds of millions of dollars from morethan 250 companies around the world. ”Wi-LAN’s proven track record andstrong financial position makes them the partner of choice for theCompany,” notes Osis. ”Wi-LAN sees incredible opportunity to generate asignificant return on the Company’s investment in research anddevelopment and together we are aggressively pursuing strategies tolicense our patent portfolio.”

Poynt Corp.’s patent portfolio includes two key U.S. patents, No.7,941,430 and No. 7,870,229. As the company’s fourth granted patent,Patent No. 7,941,430 provides protection for the delivery of multimodelocation based e-Directory services, enabling method, system andapparatus. This patent marks an important protective feature and barrierto entry for competitors of Poynt Corp.’s location-based search (LBS)model, allowing for the delivery of location-based, contextual andrelevant data, sorted by proximity to users. The patent allows a methodof returning proximity sorted directory results to a mobile device user,based on automatic location detection on a mobile communication deviceand a search query. At least one E-directory query result and one webquery result are compared, results are sorted based on proximity to thelocation detected, duplicates are deleted, and the results are deliveredto the users. In some instances, additional information related to thelisting, like promotions or websites, are added to the results.

Patent No. 7,870,229 provides the Company with protection coveringthe delivery of mobile coupons and offers. This patent enhances Poynt’sposition in the mobile advertising and offer marketplace and furtherpositions the company as an industry leader in LBS. Poynt’s technologycouples user-stated intention with relevant, local information – the keydrivers in providing transactional capabilities within any pre-definedgeographic area.
