RE: RE: Revamped Humvee Draws Military’s EyeSame basic article hyped up by various US Media sources about a home-grown USA potential solution. Athough it is hyped up a number of arcticles (posted on this board) are also raising some uncertainty about the overall potential.
Makes you wonder whether Hardwire/AM General actually paid for the Blast Tests and will pay for the 5 additional tests or were they covered by US Government research funding. If so, kind of an unfair advantage since Cymat had to pay for their tests.
It appears that AM General wants to win the HMMWV Recap bid at all costs and is covering any potential possibilities including a Made-in-America solution (Hardwire), foreign solutions (Plasan/Cymat) or a combination of both for the V-Hull.
Even if the Hardwire solution works to a certain point for soldier protection, the Army/Military still need to be keenly aware of blast effects that are not absorbed that can cause serious brain issues and/or fragmentation injury issues. This is a major issue in the battlefield today and a large burden on military healthcare support and part of the reason why the military is reviewing/revising blast testing results to account for non-physical battle issues. The Cymat SmartMetal should provide more absorption of the shockwaves.
Either way, AM General is certainly trying to be the front runner covering all the bases for technical and political.
