Does no one find it just a little surprising that financial analytical experts in S&P were not able to anticipate that a downgrade released on a Friday after market, on the back a very unsettled market would not lead to exaggerated market responses?

Could they not have waited a few weeks until the markets had stabilized....or was it planned for the volatile summer month of August strategically.

If they wanted to cause a negative response, they got the obvious and predictable reaction.  I believe that they are very smart professionals and they know exactly what they are doing.  Make your judgment based on actions, not on words....and you will know the truth.

Keep in mind, did they prevent the banking crisis of 2008 by revealing the true nature and magnitude of derivatives, or debt levels?
