Cuts and Fluorescence

Cuts and Fluorescence

  I believe the 'blooming' cut is probably a whitish yellow - yellow - dull yellow.  A simplified version of cuts, is as follows:

blue = condensate and possibly gas
Whitish Blue = very light oil and possibly gas
Whitish Yellow = light oil
yellow = mid grade oil (20-30 API)
dull or dark yellow = heavy oil

Also:

massive or instantaneous cut = light oil or gas or condensate
blooming or halo cut = heavy oil or

or an even simplified version is:

Blooming = oil
instantaneous = gas or light oil.

These are simplified answers to help others interpret cuts.  Fluorescence are similar (spotted dull yellow grains = heavy oil, and an even spread of bright yellow/whitish/bluish grains will indicate a gasier or lighter oil reservoir.  I hope this helps, and anyone who'd like to discuss cuts and fluorescence in further I'd love to swap knowledge or debate, cheers
