mining death at FIU

mining death at FIUI am sorry to hear about the mining death at Ezulwini. I hope Ezulwini can become a zero fatality mine in the future, and I am confident Ezulwini management is working towards that. However, being a miner is less dangerous then truck driving in Canada.

number of miners in south africa: approximately 500,000
number of deaths: 165 in 2009
chance of dying per year: 0.033%

number of miners at Ezulwini: 6000
number of deaths per year: 2
chance of dying: 0.033%

number of truck drivers in Canada: 225,000-250,000
number of deaths: 500-600
change of dying: 0.2% - 0.27%

how many more times dangerous is truck driving in Canada then being a miner in SA: 6 times.
