RE: RE: RE: Interesting week aheadThe 45db is doable:
Independent testing showed that compressorstation 254 was generating sound levels up to60 dB(A) at the boundary line. Furthertesting revealed that the dominant noisesources were low frequency, which are always more difficult to attenuatethan high frequency noise. To comply with local and state ordinancesand clear the way for future expansion,Tennessee Gas set out to find a company thatcould reduce the noise level at the propertyline from 60 dB(A) to 50 dB(A)by treating the building, rather than individualcompressors. Their reasoning was thatemployees must have unrestricted access tothe compressors and clear visibility throughoutthe building.
Post-installation testing showed that the AudioSeal Combination Blanket(ABSC-25) performed better than promised. Thenoise level at the property line was reducedfrom 60dB(A) to 45dB(A). 5dB(A) lower thanwhat was specified. And while noise levels within thebuilding were not as critical, Tennessee Gas officialswere pleased the employees could now hold aconversation without shouting. In addition,Tennessee Gas found that the light coloredfabric facing used dramatically improved thelighting inside the building.
