RE: RE: DividendFor a stock such as SU where the average daily range is 2% or more, but the div is 1%, then the ex-div day is irrelevant. Sometimes though people can be waiting to sell after the div because of a self fufilling belief that others will sell. Depends whether the stock is oversold or overbought going into the ex-div. If the stock has a large div of say 4-6% and the price change the last few days leading into the ex-div day has exceeded the average daily range to the downside than the ex-div has already been factored.
