I still find that number hard to believe but if it's anywhere near true, there should be some kind of squeeze. There are probably a baseline number of long term short positions where the bet is on the company going belly up. That lot will stay around. However, I would think some of the traders would continuing to cover. About 30 million covered in Aug which is definitely progress. About 15 million of those were from longer term short positions while the other half shorted and covered around the Q2 reporting timeframe.
