RE: RE:whoa_rimcheese -Arrogance IIAre you saying they are the same type of contract. What is the stock sellers obligation once you hold the stock? What is the call writers obligation prior to expiry when the long call holds the option? Are they the same - lol. Not shifting ground or backing down - spoon-feeding the ignorant more like it. If you can't see why it makes sense for someone who holds a put option and the underlying stock to clear the put position in this case, you clearly don't understand the concepts.
I won't take one individual's idea as my own - but I will say that the idea of insuring or protecting an INDIVIDUAL STOCK position has a longer history. The first STANDARDIZED options contract was in the early in 70s, and OTC option contracts existed long before. Actually the concept of an options contract was applied in ancient times. The whole concept of portfolio insurance and how it was applied is credited for contributing to the 1987 flash crash, but you would probably need to read a few books on different financial topics to bring these things together. Not sure what your point is with this.....I also noticed that when I searched the book to look up the whole sentence - lol - one of the links was to a pdf of that exact page....good one...hahahahahaha. I suppose you read the whole book, right??? lol lol lol
It is like people who read one Noam Chomsky book, and think they are activist political scientists...lol - you make me laugh.
