Gusgold, there are many on this board that agree with you that the UNX holders were low-balled and the non-concerning management bought it as they were more interested in their own bank accounts as they were well compensated in their severance packages and option exercising.

From personal experience, the Brazilians are difficult to negotiate with, especially when they believe they have the upper hand.  In UNX case, Mello's reputation and expertise, compared to the lack thereof in the UNX ranks.  So, management persuaded the large UNX holders to buy the snake oil.

Unfortunately, at least one of us, me, didn't see it was only hype, like you did, and have continued to hold the bag.
