Inauguration of the green wall and walk; I just returned from the official inauguration of the green wall and walk and can truly say that it was a rewarding experience. I have lived in Malartic for most of my life , so this was also an emotional experience. The part that really
brought back memories is when they inaugurated a replica of the East Malartic mine shaft on the site of the Mining Museum. It was an emotional moment for me because of the fact that I remember the fire at that mine in 1947 , and recall seeing the smoke pouring out of the headframe. Eleven miners lost teir lives in that fire, and we held one minute of silence in memory of those miners. I have great respect for Sean Roosen who has always shown a great respect for the residents of this town, and again was here today for this memorable event. Sean Roosen and his team and Osisko have done more for the present and future of this town than all I can remember.
There were also six works of art inaugurated along the park walk, and at the end of the afternoon a coctail was served to all those present along with a bracelet with replicas of the six works of art.
Thank you Sean roosen, your team and OSK.
