La Salle on Burkina TV "Oct. 3 (Bloomberg) -- Semafo Inc., the Canadian gold miner that operates in three West African countries, will spend 130 billion CFA francs to boost output of the mineral from its Mana mine in Burkina Faso, Chief Executive Officer Benoit La Salle said on state-owned television.
The investment may add output of 10 metric tons of gold over the next two years, Patiende Arthur Kafando, minister of trade, industry and handicrafts, said on Radio Television du Burkina. Both men spoke on the Ouagadougou-based broadcaster yesterday."
130 billion CFA Francs is about $260 million and 10 metric tons is about 320,000 ounces.
On Sep 8 they said in a press release that the 6,000 tonnes per day expansion would cost $100-125 million and it would add 120,000 ounces in yearl production.
What La Salle is talking about on TV seems to be a much greater expansion. The time frame seem to be about the same as before.
