humus gold

humus gold

Per news release # 11-08 dated May 05, 2011, Rainy Mountain Royalty acquired [optioned from Donald D. Brown] a 167 claim unit located in the Drum Lake area about 70 km southwest of Pickle Lake. The property(the Fry-McVean claims) is a gold xploration project

.

Something caught my interest in paragraph 3 of the news rel ..."indicates that there are two anomalous humus gold zones on the property.

.

So,what is a humus gold zone & of what value is it.....if any??

some diggin' has produced the following results.

.........................................................................

from Webster:

definition of humus: ground, soil,...... organic part of the soil

address bar or google the above link [cut/paste]

.

on page #10, note following exerpts:

.

"....have been rated according to their potential to allow the dispersal of gold from bedrock to humus at surface."

.

"As the thickness of unconsolidated materials increase the potential hinderance to the dispersal of gold to humus from underlying bedrock increases."

.

(conclusion: since the above exerpts indicate that gold can move from bedrock into the humus/surface [overburden], therefore there should be some instances whereby surface sample analysis would be practical.)

.

refer following exerpts from page 20 GEOCHEMISTRY

.

"samples of humus atop the mineral soil were systematically taken......at 100 foot intervals...."

.

"the samples were dried & the humus sieved thru 50 mesh screen, the minus 50 mesh material was used for analysis.....all samples were analysed geochemically for gold...."

.

"the presence of impermeable overburden [some clays] effectively blocks transfer of gold from bedrock to the vegetation & subsequently the humus"

Two Gold Properties for Option, Northwestern Ontario

.

In the above article, Donald D. Brown comments on his two properties....one being the Fry-McVean [167]Claims property.

.

SOME OF THE COMMENTS FOLLOW:.

......properties are located near the Ontario Hydro line that xtends to the former Golden Patricia gold mine in the Dorothy-Dobie Lakes area from Pickle Lake.

.

......there are two anomalous humus gold areas on the Fry-McVean....these anomalous corridors are on or close to a major east-west striking shear zone...the Fry-McVeen shear zone [FMSZ]. These brittle-ductile shear zones are of the same magnitude as the Bearhead Fault or Shear Zone in the Dorothy-Dobie Lakes area.

.

......The Fry-McVean Shear Zone is a major regional shear zone, 11.4 km long....that is comprised of a 150 to 70 metre wide shear zone corridor that encloses banded iron formation [BIF]...

.

......after discussing structure/Riedel shears/Coulomb failure criteria, paragraph 4 ends with the following statements:

.

"This is the structural explantion for......the McIintyre, Hollinger, Campbell Red Lake and Dickenson mines according to recent geological papers. These Riedel hosted mines account for over 62 million ounces of past production."

Two Gold Properties Northwestern Ontario

.............................................

just a side-note:

also in the Dorothy-Dobie Lakes area to the immediate northwest of the Golden Patricia Mine, Manicouagan Minerals [v.mam] has an option to TNM's Dorothy-Dobie Lake property consisting of the Main & West zones, Tonsil zone, & Dobie Zone.....zones are located about 50 km northwest of the Kasagiminnis Property [also optioned from TNM...Trillium North Minerals].

.

MAM also has an option on TNM's Pickle East Property located to the immediate northeast of PC Gold's Pickle Crow Mine.

some past-producers in the area:

Pickle Crow Mine

Central Patricia Mine

Dona Lake Mine

Golden Patricia Mine

it appears that Manicouagan Minerals could have positions in "elephant" country....now's the time to find "one"!!!

...............................

.

et enfin

PKL:

"the company launched, in the first quarter, a major

drilling initiative at the Pickle Crow mine site, primarily targeting

the near surface expression of a 1.1 km long package of

banded iron formation (the No. 1 BIF Zone) which cuts

through the historical workings, as well as high grade

cross-cutting structures.

This work is expected to be complemented by further drilling of

the new near-surface Central Pat East (CPE) Zone, which at the

time of writing has been suspended to allow for construction of

an all-season road to facilitate lower cost access to the site."
