Zamora hosts an International Mining Fair

EVENT. This evening marks a mining forum in the provincial capital.


Zamora. With the theme "Opportunities and impacts of mining development" marks the mining forum scheduled on the agenda of the first International Exhibition "Zamora Ecuamin 2011", held at the Higher Pedagogical Institute "Jorge Mosquera", `of the provincial capital, Zamora.

The forum aims to inform the audience the opportunities and impacts generated by the mining development in the province of Zamora Chinchipe from the perspective of different social sectors.

The participants were delegates from the Ministry of Environment, Ministry of Non-Renewable Natural Resources, mining companies Kinross' Fruta del Norte "and EcuaCorriente, mayor of Zamora, local businesses and international experts.

Jaime Jarrin, dean of the Faculty of Engineering Geology, Mines, Petroleum and Environmental Central University of Ecuador, was the moderator of the forum who announced the regulations established for that event.

Maria Clara Heldoíza, representing the mining company Kinross "Fruta del Norte", said that through this forum unveils development and promotion to be given to the province of Zamora Chinchipe.

Leonardo Elizalde, Vice President of Corporate Affairs EcuaCorriente SA mining company, said that this forum is a space that allows for dialogue on issues concerning the region.

It should be noted that the axes of the forum were environmental, technical, mining, economic - productive development, local development, social development

Quito, 06 oct (Andes) .- The Ministry of Environment attended the First International Fair of Mining Integration "Sustainable Ecuamin Zamora 2011," developed in the city of Zamora.

Sustainable Ecuamin is a fair for the mining industry in Ecuador and their objective is to present the industrial potential of the southern region.

The aim was to show the ciudanía on how this portfolio of state guarantees that mining activities fall within environmental standards and to promote sustainable development. It also promotes the creation of a mining cluster that aims to compete globally.

The Fair became the space for different actors exposed to the community of Zamora their views on mining as a strategic sector aimed at developing the good life.

Similarly, the ministry carried out until day 8 the course-workshop "Andean camelid: The Vicuña" in Rio Verde, Pastaza, organized by the Provincial Directorate of Environment and Ecociencia Chimborazo.

The workshop was attended by representatives of the communities of Bolivar, Tungurahua and Chimborazo are trained for management and conservation of the vicuna in the Chimborazo Reserve.

Attendees will discuss the behavior, feeding, reproduction and interaction with the ecosystem of this species, as well as techniques for shearing and fiber management for comercalización.

The Ministry of Environment is developing a Conservation Plan for Protected Areas and endangered species, communities relying on the sectors involved. / OM
