The cost of construction equipment and labor has skyrocketed since CLM built its rail spur for $5.3 million per km 2 years ago. Should you trust management's optimistic projections of capex (they almost always underestimate) or real-world examples of how much a rail project, in the same area, cost in recent years? I'd go with the real world example.

Again, I'm not impressed by the Consolidated Thompson hires. They are hired as advisors, not executives (CEO, COO, etc.). They don't cost much in terms of compensation and they're a good talking point, but where's the beef? And not too many companies were beating down Quesnel's door with job offers, considering his insider trading conviction. Hire a CEO or COO who has run or built an iron ore mine and maybe the market will start to believe Champion's really a future producer, not just a takeover candidate.
