RE: You SOP!!!Here is my understanding of the issue

1 - SOP sells at a premium to MOP
2 - SOP can be refined from sylvinite by adding an extra step to the refining process.  Otherwise you just end up with MOP.  This increases the cost to produce SOP from sylvinite
3 - SOP can be refined from kainite without the need for this additional step thus reducing the cost to produce SOP
4 - Our kainite layer is deeper and would cost more to recover

The question seems to be whether or not the additional cost to extract deeper kianite would be offset by a lower cost to extract a higher value product.
