RE: news out this morning. Important to resident's of Kamloops is the in-pit crushing and conveying of both ore & waste, versus truck and shovel operations & high density tailing's to reduce environmental footprint. The area to be developed is located very close to the old mine that was in production for many years. I have talked to many older residents of Kamloops and asked them if they ever remember any problems with blasting noise or dust pollution. the answer has been no, and they are quick to point out that the prevailing winds blow to the west keeping dust away from the city. The stacks from the mill located on the west side of the city bear evidence of this to any observer. The New Gold development of their mine, witch shares the same location as Abacus, west of Kamloops, has been in construction for several years now with no complaints that i am aware of concerning dust or noise. yes, i am aware New Gold is a underground mine, but the construction of the mill and all other services are above ground and have seen the use of heavy construction equipment that has raised dust that was visible from the highway.Never heard of any complaints, or even mention of dust in the city. Special interest groups that are poorly informed and do not have the best interests of the city and general area in mind are trying to derail this much needed development for there own political agenda. We can only hope that our Provincial and Federal Governments see them for what they are, and give the go ahead to the project.7
