RE: RE: Who hit the Buy Button?Sly, I've read all the mumbo jumbo TA books and Backtested all these silly strategies - there's no advantage to most of them... btw, You do know that people were trading stocks and making a lot of money prior to the 1970's when TA came into vogue? Hmmm how were the successful people making money then without TA??? So did your charts tell you to short Oil and SU in Mar/April this year????? You must of raked in the dough then- but let me guess you only trade the market long??? ......... Now as for financial institutions there are some things to learn here: 1st off a lot of the trading is not going on on the main exchanges anymore, it is in dark pools etc... - TA won't catch all that.... 2nd financial institutions have many reasons to buy and sell.... Do you really think the European banks were consulting their Chief Technical Analyst about the MACD when they were liquidating???? 3rd These same financial institutions often trade against the TA signals all the crowd are watching ... they know the news flow, the rest don't. Finally, all the TA signals in the world are not worth a grain of salt unless you get the market direction right - For exmaple: trying to trade daily upside TA signals in a downtrend on a longer weekly timeframe - this will just create slippage and commission for the banks and brokers........................ If some people can can make these TA signals work for them - that's great - all the power to them - but they don't work for 90% of people over the long term - because there is no 'edge' as everyone is reading the same charts ................................So anyone taking money off the table or hedging yet????
