Getting to the bottom of things

Getting to the bottom of thingsI've been on an information quest as of late. I'd like to get some facts straight before deciding to go on the CC next week.

I've emailed David Fortin of RISI regarding his presentation:
https://www.tappi.org/content/events/11diss/fortin.pdf

If you take a look at slides 13 & 14 you will see a total of 3.4 million tons of capacity announced for 2011-2013, but he told me that slide 15 presents the capacity he expects to come online. It paints a whole different picture. He is forecasting only about 330K tpy for 2011, 800K tpy 2012 and 610K tpy for 2013. This is half of the 3.4M total.

The question I then asked is why Rod Young is forecasting 1M new tons in 2011. This does not make sense. I'm awaiting an answer.

I've also been corresponding with a guy who works at a textile company in Mumbai. He told me right now cotton is a little bit cheaper than rayon, but both are pretty much the same price. He said is it better going with cotton because viscose is not readily available.

I'll post relevant info as it comes along
