RE: RE: RE: Poised for takeoff!Just my humble opinion, but Argentina is not Bolivia or Venezuela. It is not a dictatorship of the left disguised as a socialist people's government. Argentina is a legitimate (though somewhat fledgling) democracy with a left and a right. The center-left won the election and has made some noise not about nationalizing resources so much as restricting outflow of capital. The risk to remember is that long before the bank crises of Europe and the US, there was a similar phenomenon in Argentina and many argentinians essentially lost all their money and the banks closed their doors. The country is hyper-sensitive to the outflow of capital, and has reacted accordingly.
That said, it is still a country that wishes to be seen as a world player and open for trade. It has fantastic resources and borders one of the largest of the emerging economies (brazil). There is nothing in my mind to suggest the government wants to nationalize its resources. It will however place red tape up when it senses the outflow of $, if for no other reason than to reassure the public that there are policies to keep within the country some benefit from the profits made by companies extracting the resources within Argentina.
