First of all, the majority of CUU shareholders invested in CUU for a quick buyout from Teck. If that doesn't happen, you are going to see a major selloff of CUU shares on the day they announce Teck declining on their backin option. Secondly, have a look at the historical M&A activity in the copper space. You will see that most all buyouts have been for producers. CUU is many years away from production. Majors who are buying copper projects are buying projects already in production, or at a minimum, near production. CUU could easily trade sideways or down for a long time if Teck backs out, and if you think otherwise, you are delusional.
