News and Conference Call
Despite difficult ground conditions, a shortage of drills and drillers and assay houses taking 8 weeks to turn around assays on a single hole, Gold Standard Ventures reported the first eight holes from the 2011 drill program. Large volumes of collapse breccias with up to 700 feet of continuous gold mineralization (~0.61g/t) were located.

This intercept is significant IMO.
Dave Mathewson talks about "being in the hunt" and they are on the scent on multiple targets in a DISTRICT-sized land holding. A steady flow of news is anticipated now as assays are received and drilling continues on the N. Bullion Fault Zone (through Jan 2012) and Railroad Fault Zone.

IMO they are being very smart in their approach to drilling Railroad. The shortest route to an economic discovery at large Railroad property is the path that Dave Mathewson has taken IMO. He knows these rocks on the Carlin Treand and he and his team are capable to quickly take their widely spaced data and hone in on the FEEDER ZONES of high-grade. Currently they are angle drilling what appears to be the first of the feeder structure their "drill-the-model"approach has pointed to. In this context IMO, to have located large volumes of low-grade collapse breccias, in the structural corridor that leads into the Rain District is quite impressive.
Another point that is worth noting is that the "permissive and mineralized" rocks found in the drilling are exposed at the surface in the southern region of the N. Bullion Fault Zone, indicating potential for open-pit type deposit in the N. Bullion Fault Zone target.
Look, to my way of thinking, to expect Dave to have reported a massive intercept of high-grade gold at this point would be LUCKY in the EXTREME. This is especially true when they are looking for a vertical feature (feeder structures) with vertical holes... it happens, but very, very rarely. Imagine hitting a SMALL distant bulls-eye on a BIG irregular target through cloudy optics. Seems to me that 222 meters of 0.619 g/t is a pretty good result so early in this "HUNT" in TOUGH conditions.
Dave reported that the eastern most bounding structure has been located through bracketing this structure with their wide-spaced drilling, they "stepped off the edge" of the N. Bullion FZ collapse breccias in a step out hole to the east. The angle hole on this bounding structure is underway. I am encouraged with these results.
