RE: mobile app revenue 52 million in 2010Good morning Chuck,
First off, I really appreciate your effort to get down to facts and numbers.
I think the important thing to understand about the mobile ads is that they are primarily a facilitator to bring online ads to mobile devices. Aps and specialized ads direct smart phone users to the web-based ads that businesses put up on websites.
The 52 million you refer to is therefore kind of just the teaser. Despite this, it's grown to 82 million this year and has had 600% growth since 2004.
The really interesting number the Canadian online ad spend. This was 2.32 billion in 2010 which is rapidly approaching television ad revenue at around 3.1. Internet ad spend was under 400 million in 2004. You can see from the chart posted here:
https://en.titaninteractif.com/index.php/2011/04/19/online-is-number-2-in-canadia/
... that the internet is growing at about 15% annually while TV is stable. The market share of TV is therefore on decline as I noted.
The internet market share and the mobile aps that help bring it on will benefit YLO considerably. Margins can be as high as 45% in the online ad space. I'll get some articles to back that number later today. I have an appointment.
