RE: RE: RE: Short sellers70% of the gold mined in the world is at 1 gm./ton. Most of it is a byproduct of multimineral mining (Copper,zn,etc..) Depending upon the geologic condition 3 gms/ton is usually needed for a pure gold mine. Even there it requires just less than 11 tons(32.14 gms/ton) to obtain one ounce of gold. Historically 1 meter cubed(size of a small refrigerator) is 3-4 tons depending on the density of the rock.
In talking with the geologist at NTR one of the difficulties is assaying the visible gold. They see the gold and then the assays are less. They do 50 gms. samples when they do their assays and believe in visible gold this can lead to less than accurate evaluation of the mineralization. In a porphry setting the samples are more homogenous and allow more consistent representation of the minerlization.
