CUV has its own independent water supply for the project - this add costs substantially for MIN to bring a 5 kilometer pipeline from the nearest town. But your are right, MIN will ride the coattails of CUV. Another note, if you read the state response to the city council- state is saying that the surrounding private lands are not suitable for residential and commercial deveolpment due to cultural and archaelogical reasons.. Basically state wont allow other deveolpment on state and surrounding lands and has power to veto any plans. Also state has 8% royalty and this will be a historic cash cow for the state. Funny thing the state also pointed out that Merril company bought the original rights from BHP and formed the Merril Copper company. This is part of the same group that opposes copper development and favors residential. ie they developed Merril Ranch resort.
