Aris Mining Corporation is a gold producer in the Americas. The Company is engaged in operating two mines with expansions underway in Colombia. The Segovia Operation is located in the Segovia-Remedios mining district in the department of Antioquia, Colombia, approximately 180 kilometers (km) northeast of Medellin. The Segovia Operations comprises four active underground gold mining operations, which include El Silencio, Sandra K, Providencia, and Carla. It has over 11 titles with a total area of 5,335.58 hectares (ha). The Marmato underground gold mine is located on the west side of the town of Marmato, in Marmato municipality of Caldas Department, in the Republic of Colombia, approximately 80 km from Medellin and 200 km northwest of the capital city of Bogota. The Company is also the operator and 51% owner of the Soto Norte Project, which is advancing to develop a new underground gold, silver and copper mine. In Guyana, it is advancing the Toroparu, a gold/copper project.

Being in Columbia-What are the risks?

First of all, it is important to note that many of the principles behind the company are from Pacific Rubiales, an oil and gas company with major assets in Columbia and other Latin American countries. There share price went from $2 to $34 in 2 years. These guys should know what it takes to develop assets in Columbia since they have already done it. There CEO has strong political connections:

Maria Consuelo Araujo(President, Chief Executive Officer)

Former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Colombia. Previously served as Minister of Culture from 2002 to 2006. Diplomat & Economist by trade with postgraduate studies in Colombia and the UK. Substantial business education and experience. Currently a Director of ISA, the largest electrical utility company in Latin America.
The area they are operating in has good road infrastructure which leads me to believe it is a well controlled area under government control. You can never 100% remove risk in a country like Columbia and there will probably always be share price discount however, I think we are in good shape here.
