RE: China big buy (including inverter access) What stood out in that article for me oldrancher was:
Robert Bosch GmbH said on Dec. 21 that it bought Conergy AG’s solar inverters unit, putting the Stuttgart-based car-parts maker, the world’s biggest, into competition with established suppliers including Germany’s SMA Solar Technology AG (S92) and Power- One Inc. based in Camarillo, California.
It was the alleged partnership with Bosch in Mar. 2010 that put this to .40+
Unfortunately, the deal never reached fruition. One of the reasons I'm told is because of thin film and its' lack of Ontario content so thin film never kicked off. That could change, but it is interesting that Bosch is into the inverter game with the buyout of the Conergy inverter unit.
Sustainable announced in May 2010 that they had partnered with Conergy Canada. They have/had a joint project in Brampton, On. A few months after the partnership was announced, I contacted Conergy asking why they did not list the Sunergy as one of their inverters for sale even though they had announced a partnership. I received only silence. I suspect that they were waiting for the new generation inverter and we heard nothing more about this 'partnership'. Is it still in the works or is that dead?
I wonder if BOSCH is looking for a parallel inverter?
Is something in the works with the split in some kind of condition of a deal with a company?
Or just another dream for 2012?
Regardless, the buyouts continue with Big Oil buying up solar manufacturers and the largest auto supply parts company in the world moving further into solar. Many more mergers and acquisitions will take place in 2012 as some companies go insolvent and many more are bought out.
Do we dare hope once more?

"Partnering with Sustainable Energy was an easy choice as the SUNERGY inverters deliver exceptional performance for commercial rooftop solutions with safe, extra-low voltage technology," said Jared Donald, President of Conergy. "With the SUNERGY inverter and its parallel wiring architecture our customers will now have access to a highly flexible rooftop inverter that delivers high performance even in non-ideal conditions."
